The challenge this week is to write a poem suitable for a non-denominational wedding.
Avowal
I marry you with this ring of white gold
I marry you with every circling star.
I marry you with crowns of laurel leaves.
I marry you each day for all you are.
I will walk with you the labyrinth of days.
The days before you came will be forgot.
There’ll be no roads to separate our ways.
There’ll be no joy for me where you are not.
And at the end, as some day end must be
And we, our leaves and stars and rings grown old
I still will bless you for the road I take
this day. I wed you, Love, with love, with gold.
Fantabulicious! So very neat, beautifully self-contained. This would sound great read aloud.
ReplyDeleteWe've got a bit of common ground this week...well, common leaves anyway!
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed this.

A beautiful wedding vow that says it all. Lucky the bride and groom who could say these words to each other...
ReplyDeleteI doubt I'd be able to say those words and keep a straight face.
ReplyDeleteBut I'm an incurable cynic. A lovely old-fashioned poem.
Well, this is beautiful! I would like to think someone will read it .... and use it!
ReplyDeleteSigned,
Hopeless Romantic
Why, this brought actual tears to my eyes. And that doesn't happen very often. So, so special this one.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely gorgeous, and yes pretty shiver inducing.
ReplyDeleteJust lovely and romantic.

Many thanks for all your heartfelt comments, especially Martine who seems to be using an Apple Mac laptop. What a Gal!
ReplyDeleteWorth it's weight in gold!
